Our B4 Mount Adapter brings new life to legendary B4 broadcast lenses—allowing them to work natively with RED DSMC1 and DSMC2 cameras via the Blackmagic B4 mount system. This adapter delivers exceptional build quality, optical integrity, and creative flexibility—at a fraction of the price of traditional alternatives.
Using this adapter with a B4 lens gives you an impressive zoom range, like 28mm to 420mm, all in one parfocal lens that holds focus throughout the zoom. Many B4 lenses also stay fast at around T2, so you get bright, clean images from wide shots to tight close-ups — perfect for sports, wildlife, or live events on your RED camera.
The CINELUX B4 Mount lets you use a B4 broadcast lens on a RED DSMC2 by combining it with the Blackmagic B4 optical adapter. The Blackmagic adapter does the optical correction, while the CINELUX mount securely connects it to your camera.
Optical Optimisation
Utilises Blackmagic’s B4 adapter to optically correct the lens for RED’s single-chip sensors. This avoids the need for expensive optical expansion adapters that introduce data-heavy oversampling and serious light loss.
Perfect for Slow Motion
Supports native RED recording modes from 1080p to 3K - within the optical range B4 lenses were designed for. On Gemini, for example, you can shoot up to 240fps with zero sensor crop.
Minimal Light Loss
Expect just 1/3 stop of light loss vs up to 3 stops on conventional B4-to-PL optical adapters. Great for low-light work and stopped-down shooting.
Full Back Focus Control
Compatible with Blackmagic’s B4 shims — by default, the mount is calibrated for the 0.5mm shim included with the Blackmagic B4 mount. If you don’t have a shim, you can still use it without one and adjust back focus on the lens itself.
Massive Price Advantage
Competes with £3,850 IBE B4-to-PL adapters—at a fraction of the price. Plus the Blackmagic optical unit (around the same again).
Why This Adapter Exists
RED cameras typically need high-end, high-res glass—but that’s not always the best choice for fast, handheld, or documentary work. Our mount makes it possible to use B4 lenses—once limited to 3-chip broadcast cams—on RED’s single-chip systems, all while keeping things optically correct and mechanically solid.
There’s also a treasure trove of beautiful, cinema-grade B4 lenses from the early 2000s that are massively underused. This adapter opens up those optics for a new generation.

Which expander should I get?
The 1.1x expander is ideal if you want higher frame rates and minimal light loss — but is only designed to cover lower resolutions like 2.5K (windowed mode)
The 1.5x expander lets you take full advantage of slightly higher-resolution sensor modes by expanding the lens’s image circle — with just a slight reduction in frame rate and a bit more light loss.
